Caswell Sports has announced they have been rewarded the James Farrell Award for the fourth straight year by USA Softball. This award is given in recognition of running exceptional national tournaments and the host city must receive an overall rating of 95 percent from the ASA/USA Softball Representative, Umpire-in-Chief and National Office. The James Farrell Award of Excellence is named in honor of former St. Louis ASA/USA Softball commissioner and National Office Staff member James Farrell. Caswell Sports hosted two national tournaments that qualified them for this award in 2020, the Men’s Class D and Class E/Rec Slow Pitch Northern Nationals August 28th – 30th.
“The City of North Mankato’s commitment to the sport of softball is not only recognized by USA Softball but the patrons of Caswell Park,” remarked USA Softball State of Minnesota Commissioner Dan Pfeffer. “USA Softball is excited to assist with tournaments and park redevelopment in the future.”
“It’s always fun to host tournaments and bring in teams from outside the region, but this is really a community effort,” says Caswell Sports Director Phil Tostenson. “From the park and concessions staff to the businesses and hotels in our community, it really takes everyone to make these tournaments successful.”
“Thank you to USA Softball for again recognizing Caswell Park as one of the true gems of competitive softball facilities in the country!” said Mayor of North Mankato Mark Dehen. “With the bonding dollars we received from the Minnesota Legislature this last session, we look forward to updating and improving Caswell Park for the future next year.”
Caswell Sports will be hosting the Girls 10 West National Championship and Men’s Class E/Rec Northern Nationals in 2021.
